THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrates her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce custody, child support and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's need.
