THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts and estate administration as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law – custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
